A COE RETURNS TO COE'S LANE, AGHOWLE, June 2023
For a long we have been researching and writing about the Cassidy and the Dunn families who left Killinure, bound for Ontario, during the Great Famine. Another family with links to these two families was the Coes who left in 1841. This family lived in ‘Coes Lane’ in Aghowle Lower. Recently Jim Dunn his wife Mary and daughter Jennifer visited the site of the old Coe homestead.
We wish to acknowledge the wonderful help given to us by the locals. Thanks to Gail Hanbidge and her son drove us to the site and acted as guides. Also to Joe Hilliard who with his 4 wheel drive provided the transport for yours truly and our three visitors from the US and allowed Jim Dunn to visit the old homestead of is 3rd great grandfather.
This Coe family will feature in the sequel to SHOEBOXES
